Studio-Worthy Film From Slender Man Look-alike Flay

Slender Man look-alike, FLAY is a feature film already in hot demand as it is prepped for sales at the upcoming 2015 American Film Market in November. Flay comes from Austin film production company, Phame Factory and Director Eric Pham, a visual effects pro with over 27 feature film credits, known for his work with Robert Rodriguez’s SPY KIDS, SIN CITY, GRINDHOUSE.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting for a much wanted cinematic version of the frightening faceless entity and mythology and meme known as Slender Man that has stormed the internet around the world. While several movie versions of Slender Man have been made in the past, they have been unfortunately marred with low production value and the styling of found-footage clichés. The cinematic trailer to FLAY gives fans much hope. But those who expect a pure retelling of the existing Slender Man myth may be disappointed because Flay will be telling its own origins story. FLAY is a contemporary mashup of the Japanese legend of the Noppera-bō, or faceless ghost, and Native American legend of a figure that “Flays” the face of his victims.

Centered around a recovering addict and artist who inadvertently unleashes a centuries old curse by acquiring a mysterious and alluring black chain that empowers FLAY, a faceless killer who drags his victims to the netherworld and returns their dead bodies to the world seemingly unharmed.

Shot entirely in Austin, TX, FLAY draws from the strong base of professional crew and cast that service ongoing feature film productions from Terrance Malick, Richard Linklater, and Robert Rodriguez and TV productions from HBO’s The Leftovers and ABC’s American Crime. Austin continues its reign in 2015, voted by Moviemaker Magazine as the number one city for Best Places to Live and Work as a filmmaker. Eric Pham joins the list of up and coming directors from Austin and is currently prepping to write and direct A Boat Story, a Sundance Writer’s Lab finalist, along with developing the sequel to Flay.

FLAY stars Elle LaMont, Dalton Gray, Violett Beane, Johnny Walter and featuring A. Michael Baldwin, who is best known for his role as Mike in the Phantasm series. Flay is the first feature for newcomer Violett Beane, who has been recently cast to join The Flash‘s second season as the DCU’s most important female member as Jesse Quick.

FLAY is represented by Empress Road Pictures.
