Clive Barker Producing TV Series Based on His Weaveworld
According to Deadline.com, the CW is is developing Clive Barker’s fantasy-horror novel, WEAVEWORLD as a drama series. Barker is set to executive produce the project, with Jack (Warehouse 13) Kenny writing and executive producing. According to Deadline.com:
The show gives a contemporary makeover to the premise of the novel, which was published in 1987. In the TV adaptation, an app designer teams up with a young pastry chef who has just discovered that destined to be guardian of a mythological realm that can be accessed through a portal in an old Savannah mansion. Together, they fight an epic battle with evil forces who are vying for control of the magical world. Angela Mancuso also executive produces. CBS TV Studios is the studio.
For decades, WEAVEWORLD has been in the crosshairs to be developed as a television project, but it was considered too difficult to adapt due to the scope of the novel, as well as the setting and the special effects that would be necessary to pull it off.
I think this is some incredible news and can’t wait to see what the CW comes up with. Sure, I’d feel better if Barker was also writing the adaptation, but I have total faith in the CW after the jobs they’ve done with THE FLASH, ARROW, and IZOMBIE. What do you think? Sound off below.
