This sci-fi spectacular takes the form of a documentary, following two cameramen into the midst of an alien invasion exploding in the Middle East. Embedded with an army unit fighting off the hostiles from within a battered outpost, the filmmakers chronicle the soldiers’ efforts to repel the extraterrestrial threat and reclaim the planet for humanity. The sordid story of Wisconsin farmer Ed Gein inspired this fright film filled with scares, gore, and strange humor. Roberts Blossom is sick murderer Ezra Cobb, who kills–then stuffs–people in order to keep his dead mother company. Gein’s life inspired both “Psycho” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” but this acclaimed, rarely seen shocker is the most accurate portrayal of his deeds. With Cosette Lee, Leslie Carlson. 82 min.
