What Happens After the Apocalypse? Find Out in Extinction

Most of the zombie films out there focus on the periods right before and during the zombie apocalypse. There’s of course exceptions like 28 WEEKS LATER, FIDO, and MAGGIE, but what about afterwards. What happens if the virus is contained and there’s an actual post-apocalyptic world? The upcoming film, EXTINCTION, explores such a scenario. EXTINCTION is directed by Miguel Ángel Vivas, written by Vivas and Alberto Marini (based on the novel by Juan de Dios Garduño), and stars Matthew Fox, Jeffrey Donovan, Quinn McColgan, Valeria Vereau, and Clara Lago. Check out the plot crunch:
Nine years after an infection turns most of the humanity into rabid creatures, Patrick, Jack and Lu, a nine-year-old girl, survive in seeming peace and calm in the forgotten snow-covered town of Harmony. We nonetheless sense that something terrible happened between Patrick and Jack because a deep hate keeps them apart. When the infected appear again, Patrick and Jack will have to leave behind all rancor to protect the one being who means more to them than anything else.
The film is slated for a July 13, 2015 release date in the U.S. Dig on the trailer below. It definitely feels familiar, but I’m hoping EXTINCTION offers us something a little different.
Stay Bloody!!!
