He was the see-in-the-dark, monster fighter, Riddick; he’s the fast driving, mumbling Dominic Toretto; he was the extreme James Bond for the new generation, XXX; and he was the outer space tree, Groot. Now Diesel can add another role to his resume as the witch hunter, Kaulder, in the upcoming film, THE LAST WITCH HUNTER. THE LAST WITCH HUNTER is directed by Breck Eisner, is written by Cory Goodman, Matt Sazama, and Burk Sharpless, and along with Diesel stars Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Rena Owen, Julie Engelbrecht, and Michael Caine. 

THE LAST WITCH HUNTER is about a world where witches still exist in the modern world and Diesel is … wait for it … the last witch hunter and battles the witches in New York. Check out the plot synopsis:

In The Last Witch Hunter, the modern world holds many secrets, but the most astounding secret of all is that witches still live amongst us; vicious supernatural creatures intent on unleashing the Black Death upon the world. Armies of witch hunters battled the unnatural enemy across the globe for centuries, including Kaulder (Diesel), a valiant warrior who managed to slay the all-powerful Queen Witch, decimating her followers in the process.

In the moments right before her death, the Queen curses Kaulder with her own immortality, forever separating him from his beloved wife and daughter in the afterlife. Today Kaulder is the only one of his kind remaining, and has spent centuries hunting down rogue witches, all the while yearning for his long-lost loved ones. However, unbeknownst to Kaulder, the Queen Witch is resurrected and seeks revenge on her killer causing an epic battle that will determine the survival of the human race.

The film is slated for an October 23, 2015 Halloween release date. For now you can dig on the trailer.
