New Poltergeist Poster Promises it Knows What Scares Us
Is it just me or does the POLTERGEIST remake seem to have been moving along really fast? It seems this film was just announced, and now we’re in the month of its release. Recently a new international poster was released for the film (see below). The POLTERGEIST remake is directed by Gil Kenan, written by David Lindsay-Abaire, and stars Sam Rockwell, Jared Harris, Rosemarie DeWitt, Saxon Sharbino, Jane Adams, Nicholas Braun, and Susan Heyward. Legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi (producer) reimagines and contemporizes the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is invaded by angry spirits. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and take the youngest daughter, the family must come together to rescue her.

I wanted to be excited about this flick, I really did… if only because the original is one of my all-time favorite movies. But absolutely every step has felt wrong. The trailer shows none of the fun that the original had. They can’t even get the tag-line right. The original tagline was “IT knows what scares you,’ and it worked beautifully, because it applied to the actual movie as well as the spirit. Will I see this? Yeah, eventually, probably on DVD. But I can already tell it’s a heartless endeavor.
