John McNaughton’s The Harvest Drops Release Date

The Harvest posterDo you realize it’s been almost thirty years since John McNaughton directed and co-wrote HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER? Thirty years!! Since then, McNaughton has made a few documentaries and dabbled in some made for TV movies and directed a few episodes of popular TV shows. In other words, McNaughton is long over due in returning to the genre in which he made one of the greatest, if not the greatest, serial killer films. Well good news!! McNaughton is coming back to the horror genre with the film THE HARVEST. THE HARVEST is of course directed by McNaughton, is written by Stephen Lancellotti, and stars Samantha Morton, Michael Shannon, Natasha Calis, Charlie Tahan, and Peter Fonda. Check out the plot crunch:

Maryann (an impressive Natasha Calis) moves in with her grandparents after she’s orphaned. Desperately lonely, the preteen sets out to befriend a neighboring deathly ill, bed-ridden boy (Charlie Tahan), despite the outright disapproval of his mother (Samantha Morton). Maryann’s persistence pays off, however, and during a series of secret visits she gradually uncovers some seriously sinister goings-on in the house…

The film is being called horror-fairy tale and has recently announced it’s release date. THE HARVEST will be available on VOD on April 10, 2015. Check out the trailer and let me know what you think.
