Casting News & Footage Drops for Rob Zombie’s 31

31 posterLots of casting news coming at us on Rob Zombie’s upcoming film, 31. The film is written and directed by Zombie and, to no one’s surprise, stars Sheri Moon Zombie. When I first heard Zombie was making a film about killer clowns I was skeptical, but after reading the plot crunch I’m damned excited about this one. Check it out:

Five random people are kidnapped on the five days leading up to Halloween and held hostage in a place called Murder World. While trapped inside this man-made Hell they must fight to survive playing the most violent game known to man… a game called 31.

31 has no rules. 31 has no boundaries. It is ever so simple. Do whatever you can do to kill your opponent before they kill you. Keep this up for 12 hours and freedom is yours. Who are the opponents? Well… a group of vile, filthy, blood-thirsty clowns known as THE HEADS. They come in all shapes and sizes and each grows nastier than the last.

Recently cast to play the role of Sex-Head is actress E.G. Daily. She’s probably best known as the voice of Tommy Pickles in the cartoon RUGRATS, but you’ll also recognize her from VALLEY GIRL, STREETS OF FIRE, and PEE WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE. She also has a great resume in the genre as well, having appeared in ONE DARK NIGHT, BAD DREAMS, and Zombie’s THE DEVIL’S REJECTS.

Also recently signed on to 31 is TV legend Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, best known for his role as Freddie ‘Boom Boom’ Washington in WELCOME BACK, KOTTER. He’s joined the cast of 31 as the character Panda Thomas. Here’s a description of his character:

Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs has joined the cast of 31 as Panda Thomas the manager of a traveling roadshow known as “The Venus Lux Happy Time Fun Show”. Unfortunately the fun stops as soon as he enters Murder World.

Lawrence is best know as 70’s icon Freddy “Boom Boom” Washington from Welcome Back, Kotter and such classic films as Cooley High and Claudine.

And for extra fun some behind-the-scenes footage has been released. Check it out:

Looking forward to 31? I’m glad Zombie went the way of crowdsourcing to fund this one so he can do it the way he wants to do it.

Stay Bloody!!!
