Image Entertainment Picks Up Dark Was the Night

Dark was the Night posterThe supernatural-horror film about an ancient evil that awakens in the trees outside a small town, DARK WAS THE NIGHT, has been picked up by Image. DARK WAS THE NIGHT is directed by Jack Heller, written by Tyler Hisel, and stars Steve Agee, Nick DamiciKevin Durand, Heath Freeman, Sabina Gadecki, and Lukas Haas. Here’s the short but sweet plot crunch:

An evil is unleashed on the isolated town of Maiden Woods, where a nearby logging company has disrupted the balance of the life in the woods. From the frozen forest, an evil will emerge and threaten the local citizens; their only hope being the local Sheriff and his trusted Deputy.

Reminds me of the “Darkness Falls” episode of THE X-FILES from the first season!! DARK WAS THE NIGHT has had a helluva good festival run and has been wowing audiences since it’s premier at Los Angeles’s ScreamFest. This was originally titled THE TREES, and the script even landed on the Black List in 2009, which is a rarity for horror films. The Black List is something that comes out every year and lists Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays.

Image is planning to release the film in theaters in multiple cities later this year. Check out the trailer:
