David Nevins Talks Twin Peaks, Announces Lead

I never thought in a million years when I started running Anything Horror back in 2009 that I’d be writing an article about TWIN PEAKS … in the “Upcoming Releases” category!! The limited series will be airing on Showtime and Showtime president David Nevins, in a recent article on Deadline.com, talks about how he got David Lynch and Mark Frost to agree to resurrect their classic show. So what helped to get Mark Frost and David Lynch to finally do a TWIN PEAKS series:
Good ol’ begging, numerology and some pretty disturbing pieces of art … “I was begging them to pass muster with David Lynch. Finally, the timing was right, coming up on the 25th anniversary of the original series. “25 years in David’s mind was the magic number, there is a reference in the original, ‘I’ll see you in 25 years’. He pays attention to such numerology.”
Apparently the decorator of Nevins’ office also played a key role:
“(Lynch) was fixated on the violent, weird imagery artwork in my office,” Nevins said. “There’s a book shelf falling on a young girl, he liked that. We were off in business.”
But the best news of all is that Showtime is leaving Lynch and Frost alone to do what they do best, and they’re apparently loving what they’ve seen so far. Lynch and Frost are writing all episodes and Lynch is directing each of them. The article goes on to conclude that Lynch and Frost have “promised closure” to the series. This is all sounding extremely exciting!!
But just when the news couldn’t get any better, Deadline.com reported yesterday that Agent Dale Cooper himself, Kyle MacLachlan has closed a deal to top line and star in the new nine episode limited TWIN PEAKS series. The series will go into production this year and will premiere in 2016 to mark the 25th anniversary of when the series finished its run on ABC. Said MacLachlan:
“I’m very excited to return to the strange and wonderful world of Twin Peaks. May the forest be with you.”
As you may guess, I am a huge fan of the original series and can’t wait to get the closure all TWIN PEAKS fans have been looking for for twenty-five years!!
More on this one as info becomes available.
